Now Smell This was the very first to report the upcoming launch of two new Lutens scents. OsMoz now offers a short description in English:
In September, Serge Lutens will be launching two new fragrant creations. Louve (“She-Wolf”) is a highly concentrated perfume featuring a sweet and balm-like note of bitter almond, as white as a snow castle on a mountaintop. Of Moorish inspiration, Sarrasins (“Saracens”) is a velvety floral, built around ‘a stunningly beautiful jasmine, gloved in jet-black ink’. Sarrasins will be available at the Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido, and Louve at selected department stores and perfume shops.Not excited about the almond one at all, but jasmine gloved in jet-black ink sounds extremely appealing to me.

Sarrasins is an awesome name for a perfume - I'm imagining a smell like the Generalife at the Alhambra....

I am SO excited by the description of Sarrasins. She-wolf seems to be a wrong name for an almond scent, but we are talking about Lutens here, who know what he'll do with/to almond :-)
As a btw, I love the fact that William Blake made an appearance in your post today. That has made me love you just a little bit more.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the name Louve was inspired by the character of the ice witch-queen in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe? She used wolves to do some of her dirty work. Just enjoying the possibility that Serge might have been influenced by a fairy tale... :-)
ReplyDeleteThat splatting sound is me drooling across the Atlantic. Both names are wonderful (I love the way "loooouve" shapes the mouth for a kiss). Haven't been mad about his latest, but another floral by Serge is just what the doctor ordered.

ReplyDeleteExactly. We were a couple of months ago talking about how great it would be if he made a floral, and he apparently has. It makes sense that there will be jasmine in an exclusive collection, as A La Nuit is an export scent. So now we need tuberose for export and I will be happy :-)

OMG two new ones - I can hardly wait! Of course the Sarrasins sounds better cuz it's Exclusinve and not Export, but I am willing to bet that Louve is wonderful as well. I LURVE me some bitter almond..... :-)
ReplyDeleteWell, great! On the one hand, I don't want to read this now, b/c I MUST stop buying for a month. On the other hand, I am going to Paris with the sniffa in a month and I am very excited about having new Serges to smell (and maybe buy--who am I kidding??!!) there. Sarrasins sounds fabulous. I can go either way on almonds, so Louve could be great, too. Haven't been terrifically moved by any of the recent Serges (even after I sprayed Rousse it still smelled like Red Hots to me) but I am keeping the faith!

I would like to point out that L'Artisan has something similar going on with it's scent Mechant Loup (big bad wolf) and hazelnut. What's up with the French and nuts and wolves? Hmmm?
