Les Exclusifs de Chanel Have Landed

The high-pitched, eardrums-shuttering sound you heard outside? That was me, squealing in delight. The wonderful friend made it possible for me to test the new Chanels by gifting me a set of miniatures. May the Perfume Gods grant her every wish!

On the very, very first sniff, my immediate favorite was, surprisingly!, No 18, an ethereal, shimmering, indescribable scent with an unexpectedly animalic undertone. 31 Rue Cambon was close second, smelling gorgeous, warm and very "Chanel". I also loved the green Bel Respiro. After reading Ina's review on Aromascope, I expected to fall head over heels in love with Coromandel, but so far it leaves me cold, as do 28 la Pausa and Eau de Cologne, however, as I said, I only had a chance to test them briefly and am too ecstatic to even think straight right now.

I will review No 18 on Thursday. Tomorrow, please tune in for Mr. Colombina's Valentine's Day musings.

The image of the miniatures is mine.

  2. (in Monica Geller's voice) I KNOW! :-)

Seriously though, Tom, the new Chanels should now be in all decent Chanel boutiques. You won't have trouble sniffing them where you live!

hi. congratulations! where did you find the miniatures? just got off the phone with my chanel boutique and they don't have them. - minette

  4. Minette,
It was a gift from a friend, so I don't really now. I said, miniatures, but Chanel would probably consider these samples. So you should ask your boutique if they give out samples of these scents. Amd I bnet that they will say they don't have any or only with purchase. :-(

Yippee! So psyched you got to try them finally! No 18 is growing on me by the minute. Wah! But, dahlin, please do give Coromandel a fair try. It will love you. ;D

To anonymous: I was told at my local Chanel boutique that they're limited to one sample per person. The sample is indeed this mini bottle.

  8. Ina,
I will, but so far it just seems very Prada-esque on me. A lot of patch. A lot!

The history of perfume oils dates back to ancient Egypt when these fine scented oils were presented to royalty as

gifts. In modern times, however, when the word "perfume" is said, most people think of department store fragrances,

which consist mainly of the concentrated oil and alcohol solution. Nevertheless, as more and more people are finding

out about them, perfume oils are experiencing great popularity. Here are some interesting facts about perfume oils:

I don't know whether to be more excited about the Chanels landing or robot boy telling us about perfumes above me.

    I. NEED. TO. HEAR. MORE. NOW.

*decides to wait patiently for his decants to arrive some time next week*

*changes mind about the patient crap*

    NYAAAAAAARRGGGHHHH!!!

  11. Leo,
Yeah, I don't know what to do with this very educational commenter :-) On the one hand, he (?) is kind of annoying, on the other, since he does not post any links or any obscenity, I don't feel justified deleting his comments...oh well. :-)

I hope your decants arrive soon and write reviews about each new scent

  13. I just told Inushka, that I just bought the Coromandel.
The patch is winey and earthy, and vanillic like oaken casks.

But I'm with you on #18.It's the hibiscus- I really like it.
La Pausa has this dark, non-Mysore sandal note that bothers me a bit- I think I like ISM more.

    Bel Respiro- pretty, but linear.
I really love grass and hay- it's nice- but doesn't last.
31 is starting to haunt me, but I need to really wear it.

    Enjoy your sniffies !

  15. Man, I'm not sure I can wait the 7 days or whatever to get to France to smell these. That No. 18 is KILLING me - I have yearned for it from the start. I just knew it would be the one. I swear to God I'm not buying a vat of it though. Hopefully somebody will arrange bottle-splits (*Patty, dear, if you're around, I'm looking at you.*) M, are you in?

  16. Erin,
No 18 is the one for me too, which I did not expect to happen at all! Unfortunately, I am on a no buy :-(

  17. I think this is the *most* excited I've been about perfume releases in a long time and God knows that's saying a lot. Can't wait for your review of No. 18!

  18. L,
I don't remember being this excited in a long time :-)

  19. I am praying on all things holy (my Guerlain bee bottles?) that Patty's Chanels get to her tomorrow... cuz I have an order in!

Which one am I going to fall in love with, I wonder?

  20. March,
I think you won't dislike any of them. Which one you'll love is very hard to predict. Perhaps Coromandel, Bel Respiro and 28 La Pausa :-)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Can't wait!! Wonder which will be my fave? Oh, I'll just take them all (except, perhaps, the Cologne).

  22. J,
You'd probably like 31 and Bel Respiro. If Coromandel behaves better on your skin, you'd probably like it too. :-)

  23. How I laughed at Leopoldo's robot boy comment! It broke the tension I am feeling over these Chanels. Loving hearing about them - NEED to smell them yesterday. Will try to get to a boutique tomorrow evening. 31 rue Cambon has my name on though am intrigued by Bel Respiro.Um, and the others. Thanks for review - look forward to the others!

  24. Donanicola,
Unfortunately, they are all great! There is a great chance you'd love at least one. *sigh*

I am wondering if I should leave my cc at home tomorrow....;). It's like meeting someone for the first time, a date, when it's been set up by mutual friends who all say you're going to get on so well!

I have been wearing all six of them on and off for a while now, and it seems that my favourites at first were La Pausa and 31, rue Cambon. Then some time later, I began to gravitate towards Bel Respiro. Finally, I decided that I need 4--Bel Respiro, No 18, 31, rue Cambon. La Pausa remained a favourite--I used up everything I had of it, and then it seemed logical to ask for La Pausa for V-Day. 200ml bottle means that you can spray with abandon. :) I can live without Cologne and Coromandel.

  28. Vika,
I definitely need No 18. I probably need Bel Respiro and 31. The rest are probably not FBW for me.

  29. I actually rode by the Chanel Boutique on the avenue Montaigne and guess what? I was just too bloody knackered (not to mention broke) to muster up the energy to get off the bus. Am I ill, do you think? Mr.Carmencanada suddenly seems more eager than me to try them on!

    ReplyDelete
  30. D,
Tsk tsk tsk! :-) You must go back and test.

got to the chanel boutique this morning - and i instantly fell in love with 31 rue cambon. also very much liked bel respiro. 28 la pausa was lovely, but i can't smell it after a few minutes. found no. 18 intriguing, but didn't want to test it on my skin - will revisit it. and coromandel i found too sweet and too much like zino by davidoff - on paper, anyway. bought the rue cambon and got a sample of bel respiro. rue cambon was just "me" and i knew it as soon as those molecules hit the air! - minette

  32. Minette,
    Congratulations! Rue Cambon is gorgeous!!

  33. WAH! I went to the boutique last night, stood admiring the bottles in the window and turned to enter when I was told they were closed!!! It was only 6pm!! Slackers :(
I will have to plan this better....

  34. Oh no! Well, I have hope you have better luck with them next time. Please let me know what you think of the scents!
