The high-pitched, eardrums-shuttering sound you heard outside? That was me, squealing in delight. The wonderful friend made it possible for me to test the new Chanels by gifting me a set of miniatures. May the Perfume Gods grant her every wish!
On the very, very first sniff, my immediate favorite was, surprisingly!, No 18, an ethereal, shimmering, indescribable scent with an unexpectedly animalic undertone. 31 Rue Cambon was close second, smelling gorgeous, warm and very "Chanel". I also loved the green Bel Respiro. After reading Ina's review on Aromascope, I expected to fall head over heels in love with Coromandel, but so far it leaves me cold, as do 28 la Pausa and Eau de Cologne, however, as I said, I only had a chance to test them briefly and am too ecstatic to even think straight right now.
I will review No 18 on Thursday. Tomorrow, please tune in for Mr. Colombina's Valentine's Day musings.

ReplyDeleteIt was a gift from a friend, so I don't really now. I said, miniatures, but Chanel would probably consider these samples. So you should ask your boutique if they give out samples of these scents. Amd I bnet that they will say they don't have any or only with purchase. :-(

ReplyDeleteThe patch is winey and earthy, and vanillic like oaken casks.
But I'm with you on #18.It's the hibiscus- I really like it.
La Pausa has this dark, non-Mysore sandal note that bothers me a bit- I think I like ISM more.
Bel Respiro- pretty, but linear.
I really love grass and hay- it's nice- but doesn't last.
31 is starting to haunt me, but I need to really wear it.

Man, I'm not sure I can wait the 7 days or whatever to get to France to smell these. That No. 18 is KILLING me - I have yearned for it from the start. I just knew it would be the one. I swear to God I'm not buying a vat of it though. Hopefully somebody will arrange bottle-splits (*Patty, dear, if you're around, I'm looking at you.*) M, are you in?

How I laughed at Leopoldo's robot boy comment! It broke the tension I am feeling over these Chanels. Loving hearing about them - NEED to smell them yesterday. Will try to get to a boutique tomorrow evening. 31 rue Cambon has my name on though am intrigued by Bel Respiro.Um, and the others. Thanks for review - look forward to the others!

ReplyDeleteI have been wearing all six of them on and off for a while now, and it seems that my favourites at first were La Pausa and 31, rue Cambon. Then some time later, I began to gravitate towards Bel Respiro. Finally, I decided that I need 4--Bel Respiro, No 18, 31, rue Cambon. La Pausa remained a favourite--I used up everything I had of it, and then it seemed logical to ask for La Pausa for V-Day. 200ml bottle means that you can spray with abandon. :) I can live without Cologne and Coromandel.

I actually rode by the Chanel Boutique on the avenue Montaigne and guess what? I was just too bloody knackered (not to mention broke) to muster up the energy to get off the bus. Am I ill, do you think? Mr.Carmencanada suddenly seems more eager than me to try them on!

got to the chanel boutique this morning - and i instantly fell in love with 31 rue cambon. also very much liked bel respiro. 28 la pausa was lovely, but i can't smell it after a few minutes. found no. 18 intriguing, but didn't want to test it on my skin - will revisit it. and coromandel i found too sweet and too much like zino by davidoff - on paper, anyway. bought the rue cambon and got a sample of bel respiro. rue cambon was just "me" and i knew it as soon as those molecules hit the air! - minette

WAH! I went to the boutique last night, stood admiring the bottles in the window and turned to enter when I was told they were closed!!! It was only 6pm!! Slackers :(
