Donna Karan Be Delicious Pop Art Bottle Giveaway

To celebrate the launch of the limited edition Pop Art packaging of its bestseller, Be Delicious, Donna Karan will gift a bottle to one lucky reader of Perfume-Smellin' Things. If you would like to participate in the draw, please say so in your comment. The winner will be announced next Friday. You can check out Brad Hamann's comic strip at dknyfragrances.com.

Be Delicious is the 2004 creation of one of my favorite perfumers, Maurice Roucel, the author of many modern classics, including one of my biggest loves, 24, Faubourg. Which of Roucel's creations to you like the most?

Have a wonderful weekend, everybody!

Reviewing the long list of Roucel's creations (such accomplishment!) The one that stands out for me is Iris Silver Mist for Lutens. Utterly weird and beautiful, it never fails to mesmerize me.I have yet to find another fragrance that so captures a mood (damp, gray, rooty, melancholy iris -- like a drizzly cool March day). l'Instant de Guerlain is also a masterpiece, as is Gucci Envy.
Please enter me in the drawing!

My favorite Maurice Roucel? That's a tough one. I suspect a lot of people will vote for Iris Silver Mist, and for sure that's a great one. I'm looking at a list of Maurice Roucel fragrances right now, and I didn't know that he had created all of these! I don't remember what Krizia K smells like, but that's one of the first fragrances I had a distinct impression of -- my sister loved it when I was little. And Gucci Envy! That was the first fragrance I bought for a friend. And Dans Tes Bras, I love that one.

In the end, though, I have to admit that Iris Silver Mist is the one I love best now. I do like Be Delicious quite a lot though. I would love to be entered in the draw. Thanks!

as with all men and women of genious, there are too many good things one can mention, but at the moment I'd say my favourites are Musc Ravageur, Dans tes Bras, 24 Fauburg Saint Honore.

Hi, firstly, my favourite Roucel is probably Gucci Envy. Surprisingly enough, i'm not a fan of his Guerlain or Musc ...

Secondly, yes I'd love to be in the drawing for Donna Karen's Be Delicious Pop giveway. Thank you!!

It is really hot here in Sweden now and Missoni/Missoni by Maurice Roucel is gorgeus for this weather.

But I do love Musc Ravegeur, Dans Tes Bras, Tocade and... well a lot of his perfumes actually.

Please enter me in the draw. Thank you.

I'd love to be included in the draw!

Roucel is one of my favorite perfumers as well, and it's hard to pick just one of his creations. But for the moment, and for the weather, and the time of year, and my mood, I've been loving Envy.
Envy is a bottle find myself reaching for again and again in Spring and Summer. I've got the huge 3.4 oz bottle, and since it's not hard to find for a discount, I don't have to worry or stress about running out.
In fact, I think I'll wear it today!

Ooooh! What fun! Would love to be included in the draw. I have a few Roucel fragrances - Tocade, L de Lolita Lempicka, Insolence EDP, and Missoni. I've tried Broadway Night and Envy, and used to have a bottle of 24 Faubourg, that I bought last time I was in Paris (way too long ago - early 90's - haven't been back since - arrrggghhh!!!). Favorite Roucel of the above? Hmmm...24 Faubourg is wonderful, and its HERMES! But I think I'm going to go with the trashy L!!! Smells like a very decadent, lush, rich dessert. Too heavy on occasion, but irresistable! Missoni is fun, and Insolence EDP is wow...a killer! I'd love to try all of his scents.

Holy cow! Having haunted the perfume world for a while now, I was fully aware that Maurice Roucel had a long "perfumography"...but going to the Wikipedia page on him today gave me a fresh, bracing dose of reality. That man is busy!

Awfully hard to pick ONE, as you know: I'd be tossing around 24, Fauborg, Ispahan, and Dan Tes Bras (what a variety, eh?); meanwhile, I'd be wishing I had the Shalini to sniff just for fun...meanwhile, I *have* had fun with Tocade, still puzzling over something in Iris Silver Mist... LOVE that Roucel works with so many price points/materials.

Please do enter me in the drawing

I'd love to be in the draw. My favorite Roucel (so far) is definitely Organza Indecence, though Tocade comes close.

Blogger Cynthia said...

I haven't been able to try too many of the Lutens or Malle perfumes yet, so I'm going to have to go with either Le Labo Jasmine 17 or Lempicka's Fleur de Corail - although I am awfully fond of Be Delicious as well. I know that Be Delicious is a much maligned scent amongst perfumistas, but I love it. In fact, it's the scent that got me back into wearing perfume again after 80s big perfume fatigue set in.

I'd love to be entered into the drawing.

I'm really torn between Musc Ravageur, Castlebajac, Shalini and New Haarlem. I'm going with New Haarlem. There's nothing like it when it's just about to rain.
Good luck everyone!!

Hi Marina, about Maurice Roucel's creations, I haven't even been able to try most of them, but there are some icon fragrances on his CV. I love Dans tes bras and Musc Ravageur. And Gucci and L de Lolita Lempicka.
I love the bottle for this edition of Be Delicious and I have a craving for musk based scents at the moment, so I would love to be in the draw.
Thanks for the offering.

Marina...of course one knows Tocada is an olfactory feast, and I rejoiced in it for years, until I didn't want to come near the experiences it evoked (things you wrote about in your lines on Fleurissimo). Dans tes Bras, on the other end of this genious capacity for comunication, is not a feast, but a combination of grace and severity. One cannot make an impression with it, but it can be right there once the impression has been made. I don't know whether I deserve DTB, but in mild temperatures it is...poetic:-)

I own Gucci Envy (spotted at Ross- 1.7 oz for 30$), L de Lolita, and Iris Silver Mist.

Hi Marina,
Please enter me as well. I'm not sure why dots qualify as Pop Art, clearly a Roy Lichtenstein Ben-day dot reference. Marketing strikes again! The juice is pleasing though.

Envy is lovely; Tocade doesn't work on me at all!
Thanks,

Roucel is one of my favourite perfumers too, but that's mainly based on two masterpieces: Musc Ravageur and Iris Silver Mist, the latter of which is my favourite Roucel frag.

I'd also love to be included in the drawing! :)

the only one perfume i own by Roucel is original Be Delicious.... It is a nice summery fragrance that doesnt pretend to be a fancy perfume. I love to wear it when I feel casual. I noticed that Roucel also created L"instant Guerlain- it is one of my lemmings! Please kindly enter me in a giveaway as well. I appreciate it. Love your reviews! Anna

a little note: I confess that I never paid any real attention to Be Delicious. When it appeared on the shelves I was so busy discovering niche fragrances that I wasn't even bothered to take a sniff. Then, one day, about three months ago, friends came over for dinner, and one of the guests had a scent that seemed fresh and sensual and - in fact - delicious. When we were alone I asked, and that was DKBDelicious. I have sniffed it on me. Delightful indeed
