Parfums Gres Homage to Marlene Dietrich

Parfums Grès is launching the Parfum Grès collection, "inspired by legendary women". The first three fragrances, to be released in spring 2008, will pay homage to Marlene Dietrich. My Dream and My Passion are florals, and My Life is a chypre. The 60ml EdPs will cost €59. Let's hope the collection contributes to the revival of Parfums Grès. Let's hope that the scents are good enough to be associated with Dietrich.

We can only hope.

The bottles look beautiful but the caps look suspiciously like the L'artisan nuts and bolts caps.

Kelley,

We can hope, but we should be prepared to be disappointed...is what I feel somehow :-)

These caps look like plastic around a metal core kind of thing, but I see what you mean.

Am afraid I'm not feeling super confident. For one, what *is* it w/ multiple releases? Can no one release just one brilliant scent any more that some perfumer has spent a few years working on diligently? Dietrich deserves at least that much and I'd be more than happy to fork over for it.

L,
I agree. Dreams, passions and life could all fit into one composition, I am sure.

Just wanted to add that like there's a movement for slow food movement in the cooking world, I want there to be a return to slow perfume creating in the scent world. That will be near the top of my wish list for 2008.

It is encouraging that they picked Dietrich to start with, but not so encouraging that they are starting with 3 scents, as L. said. And this is only the first in a series? I am feeling weary, weary. . .

L,
I completely second that!

J,
Right, just the first...unless it is a complete flop of course :-)

Expections VERY low for these, I have to say. The notes don't sound at all compelling, and the fragrance names are dull to say the least. My Life? C'mon.

R,
Reminds me of the America Express commercials. My life. My card. :-)

Sad Sad Sad...I wish for one extraordinary fragrance to honor the legend, not three mediocre ones. I suppose that we'll see.....

So sad to say; almost every recent fragrance launched, has been disappointing for me. I could not expect miracles from Gres, but I will try to remain optimistic. When that fails, at least I have my classics; kind of like comparing a Rembrandt to a finger painting by a 3 year old.

I think Marlene's favorite perfumes were Angelique Encens by Creed and Bandit and Tabac Blond?

Does anybody have more info on her perfumes?
