This long weekend was filled not with resolutions (since they'd be broken in about 10 minutes anyway) but with random wandering. I saw two movies with my BFF Sue ("Nine", which got a 3 and "A Single Man" for which Colin Firth should win the Oscar) and wandered around the neighborhood. Shockingly I wandered into Le Labo. I was randomly sniffing and noted that I had never tried on their take on Jasmine, so I partook.
Jasmine isn't something that I would usually wear, any more that I would red lipstick or a push-up bra. This one (like quite a few of Le Labo's scents) seem almost tangentially about the name ingredient. So while there is jasmine (a lovely, soft one) it's comfortably nestled into orange flower, sandalwood and citrus. While it has pretty good longevity it's not a big projector so a man could perfectly well get away with it. Since Le Labo does those cunning little 15ML sizes I can't think of a particular reason that I shouldn't eventually indulge..
At LuckyScent (larger sizes only), the Le Labo website or at their stores and selected Barneys. 15ML for $52, 50ML for $130 and 100ML for $200. Ancillary products also available at the stores and website. I tested mine in the store.

A Strange Man was very good, wasn't it? Besides Firth, I think Julianne Moore was strong.
I'm not a jasmine fan (except well embedded in spices as in Jasmin de Nuit, or as a distant player in rich floral blends), but I very much like LL's take-the Jasmin is there, but smoothed so prettily by the rest. I bought my mini during a spring Sniffa, and wore it most of the summer.
Happy New Year, Tom and PST!
I haven't tried Le Labo Jasmin yet - but am looking forward to it now as your description makes it sound good.
Coincidentally, this one came up in my testing rotation this morning. Jinx!
So far I'm mostly just getting bergamot. Which is weird, since they already have a bergamot...
Happy New Year to you too, Louise!
signaturescent-
It's very good- I hope you get to try it soon!
Stylespy-
But the question is does the berganot smell like bergamot? Le Labo's all about the hide-and-seek namings...
Sounds good, although I prefer my jasmine undisguised and full-on. (I do hope their Bergamot really smells like its name.) On the other hand, SL A La Nuit is so heady that it's almost unwearable, however much I may love it!
Donna-
I'm glad because I love the smell of jasmine and this is one that i could wear, even to work. Because yes, it's all about me...
Random wandering - I like that. Maybe willful randomness will be my token NY's resolution.
Am a serious jasmine fan and love Le Labo's, but my current fave jasmine has to be ELdO's cigarette laced jasmine.
elle-
I've grown to like that one a lot, but I personally wouldn't wear it. I'm too hide-bound.
Tom, excuse me, please, this time I won't comment Jasmin 17 (sadly, I've never tried it) - but the film you mentioned. I saw it and was very impressed, especially by the performance of Julian Moore and Colin Firth - and then I read some very bad critics and thought "hm, am I strange ?!". So, thank you, Pansy.
Tom, I'm going to poke my head in to say: I ADORE jasmine on men. I think it's incredibly sexy (lipstick and bra: not so much.) I feel like men always make it darker, as if there were a tinge of tobacco to it. Of course you're probably not looking for the attentions of middle-aged women anyway... sigh.
I'm not sure I've even tried the Le Labo, I suppose I assumed it smelled like vetiver or something.
A Single Man was beautifully done and so much fun to look at.
Lady Jane-
I've read some really silly takes on the films as well. But critics are critics, and everyone's entitled to their opinion. I enjoyed the movie and thought it very well done
March-
I like this one because it's just a touch. And I am always happy that anyone wants to point their attentions my way even if I would politely decline an actual invite. It means the invites haven't dried up yet.
"A Single Man" was gorgeous. I wanted the house, the car, the clothes, the shoes, and I wouldn't mind Colin Firth for my birthday either..
oooh- I didn't know they had 15 ml sizes! I have a feeling an LA trip is in the offing..:)
Lavanya-
THey have 15ML for everything but the Musc. A brilliant idea, I think..
Luckyscent carries Jasmin 17 Eau de Parfum by Le Labo as well as other hard-to-find fragrances, cult perfumes and celebrity scents.
Seems perfect!Maybe I should get a try!
You obviously did not read the hubbub on my FB about why the bra color thing was discriminatory against bio-males or you wouldn't be so adamant about not wearing one ;)
I think the 15ml sizes are perfect & well, cunningly perfect, & I'd love a handful ... except that Le Labo hasn't yet come up with anything I can wear. Drat. 17 was an almost but not quite. But then, I adore an in your face jasmine.
divalano-
I clicked through but couldn't find it. But the hottie with the dreads and the leather pants- oh my!
The FB conversation seems to have been deleted .... er ummmmm you mean the hottie on my web site? In a garage, under a skylight? Shot from behind? That'd be my boyfriend ;) I'm very very lucky :D
