Sulking and Procrastinating.

This is it. As of today, I am in my twenties no more. I wanted to write a review of a very gloomy scent, but I have already talked about Messe de Minuit. So no review today. I am sulking.

Luckily I’ve been tagged by my friend Anna to post some facts about myself, and hence, instead of a real post, here are my answers. Also, as you probably have noticed, I am starting the new decade with a new blog template.

4 places I’ve lived in
-NoGoodStoresTown, PA, USA
-Oxford, United Kingdom
-Warsaw, Poland
-Samara, Russia

4 places I would rather be right now
-Home with parents
-Perfume shopping in Paris
-Having a pint or two with husband in a Real Pub in Britain
-Lying in the sun on a beach somewhere warm and exotic, sipping a cocktail

4 websites that I visit daily (believe me, there are more!)
Makeupalley The Fragrance Board
The Blogs (see the left side for the links)

4 TV shows I enjoy watching
Project Runway
The Girls Next Door
Men Behaving Badly

4 favorite songs
Rolling Stones Sympathy for the Devil
George Michael Jesus to a Child
Elton John The One
Elton John The Way You Look Tonight

4 favorite foods

4 places where I feel at home
At (my parents) home
In all but very snooty stores
In libraries
In cyber-space

4 favorite perfume notes of the moment

4 favorite perfumes of the moment
Kolnisch Juchten, any version
Guerlain Attrape-Coeur
Christian Dior Diorling
Serge Lutens Muscs Koublai Khan

4 favorite perfume houses
Serge Lutens
Fredric Malle
Christian Dior

4 things that I wish for
A small kingdom
Health for my parents
One more child (maybe)
A (full) bottle of Guerlain Djedi

4 favorite books
M. Bulgakov The Master and Margarita
A. Camus The Myth of Sisyphus
M. Tsvetaeva Poem of the End
M. Kundera The Unbearable Lightness of Being

4 favorite quotations
All I want is a kind word and a warm bed and unlimited power. A. Brilliant
Our soul is ability for pain- nothing more. M. Tsvetaeva.
One must still have chaos in oneself to give birth to a dancing star. F. Nietzsche
Existence precedes and rules essence. J-P. Sartre

I tag anyone who wants to be tagged!

The 1st and 2nd images are by Anne Taintor. The 4th image is Rare Edition by Gil Elvgren.

Tomorrow, a review of L’Artisan Dzongkha.
And finally, the winner of Kolnisch Juchten sample draw is zeram1. Please send me your address (Contact Me link on the right) and I will mail you the sample.

Welcome to the crisp side of life... I like your re-styled blog . And then: Why not review the same perfume a second time, might be interesting because if it is a good perfume you will rediscover it and come with an exciting review anyhow...greetings

Don't sulk TOO much. Even at 30, you still make me a cradle-robber ... and you are sexier, more beautiful and more wonderful than ever!

I love you!

Happy, happy birthday!!!! May all your spritzes be good ones! And don't worry: the 30s are great! (from one who KNOWS:)

С днем рождения

(Babelfish tells me this means "Happy Birthday"; I hope for once they are right and it doesn't translate to something like "sloppy wet socks":)

Gad, when you babies get all weepy about the big 3-0 it's soooooo ... adorable! ;-) FWIW my 30s only got better, and my 40s are excellent. No, not pulling your leg.

PS Sloppy wet socks to you as well!!! I am looking forward to your review of Dzongkha!

Andy, thank you! Crisp side of life...I like that :-) The thing about Messe de Minuit is that it doesn't seem all that gloomy to me anymore. Now to achieve that great brooding effect I have to layer it with Caron Yatagan :-)

Dear Helene,
Thank you very much! Centenerian, eh? My great grandma lived to almost 100, so it is not entirely impossible, I guess :-)

Thank you very much! I am wondering if you'd like Dzongkha. On the one hand it has those soulful incensey qualities that I think you like, on the other hand, the iris was very prominent, at least on my skin ...

So pleased with my Babelfish success that I will try again:

С днем рождения, вы намочили старый носок!

Hmmmm, that MAY not have worked right (jk/jk). Let's try again:

С днем рождения, вы красивейшая молодая женщина!

I HOPE that's better. . . :)
Enjoy your wonderful day!!

Babelfish is the funniest thing on earth. The first one says, Happy birthday, you have made an old sock wet! ROFL
The 2nd says, Happy Birthday, you, the most beautiful young woman. Now that one sounds just right :-)

I know how you feel about 30- my mother sent me dozens of pink roses and that was the best part. I kept looking around and wondering what was next. The truth is what's to come is so much better than your 20s. Happy Birthday!!

BTW- my best friend and I (who have both kicked 30 in the teeth years ago..) both are not big on celebrating our birthdays. No parties, etc. But we did institute something that we do appreciate very much, and you are perfectly welcome to let Mr. Columbina and your family use it:

The Silently-Handed Gift

TSHG's can be something from "the list", and should be given along with the silently served breakfast-in-bed, and the silently poured Mimosa.

A very happy birthday month to you. Don't lament over turning 30--I've enjoyed every new year that I've encountered, and I've got about 2 decades on you. With each year, I love the feeling of being more comfortable in your my skin, less pressure to fit in or compromise away to achieve harmony, more enjoyment in who I amand what I do! It truly does get better, and better! I'm sure that you will experience the same. CindyN

Love the new look, too! To a great year and an even better decade. FWIW - I love my thirties, but still will always feel about 24 inside - and researchers say the internal age is what counts! :)

Well, that's why there is "maybe" there. I probably won't do it, but sometimes I remember how it was to hold a sweet little chubster in my hands, and ...:-)
