Have a great long Labor Day weekend!

Have a great long Labor Day weekend, everyone! The picture above is pretty much wishful thinking on my part, at least two thirds of its cheerful message anyway, as the weekend will be most likely spent taking care of a sniffly child and gazing wistfully at the rain. On the second thought, I might just do some shopping online. Here is what my heart greatly desires at the moment: Parfumerie Generale Cuir Venenum and Masc Maori, Guerlain Bois d'Armenie, L'Artisan Dzongkha and L'Eau du Navigateur, Paul & Joe Blue, Frederic Malle Le Parfum de Therese, Chanel No 22, the sampler set of some Rich Hippie scents and about seven or eight scents from Jean Patou Ma Collection. What's on your wishlist? Have fun and please tune back on Tuesday for a review of something or other.

I went into NYC yesterday specifically to buy Hermessence Ambre Narguile (SWOON!), but now I have a new lemming: SL Cedre!

Josey,
Cedre is a great lemming for fall and winter. It becomes so snuggly and comforting in cold wetaher.

Current lemmings and possible purchases: Prada Amber, Antidote, Burberry London for men, The Dreamer, Marc Jacobs Men, multiple SLs and the list goes on and on and on... Why, oh why wasn't I born rich?
Have a restful weekend!
Hugs

Dusan,
Is Prada Amber an unsniffed lemming or have you tried it? I keep hearing good things about it and would love to know what you think.

well, you probably know my WL by heart already, but I'll play anyway: carnal flower (which I'm about to get next week hopefully), piment brulant, la chasse, safran troublant, coco, youth dew amber nude, maybe tuberose indiana. those are all already tried&tested and therefore "trustworthy" lemmings. unsniffed, but dying-to-try are: noix de tubereuse, do son, un zest de rose, rosa flamenca, le parfum de therese, the new chanel reve. OK, back to reality now ;-), I suppose one has to be happy for what one's already got...

Tina,
Great lists! We have Le Parfum de Therese in common! And the new Chanel, which I cannot wait to try...or at least to hear about in more detail.

M, sadly Prada is still an unsniffed lemming, but I've heard so many raves about it that I think I'm destined to love it. Needless to say, I'm an amber slutoon (male slut, in case you didn't know LOL). Except for the Dreamer, all the others are also unsniffed lemmings.
BTW, I tried Bulgari Pour Homme Eau de Soir today and it didn't strike me as particularly soirish at all. There is no special improvement on the original other than the top notes, which are now sweeter and more watery citrus. A nice scent overall, but once you've smelled L'Eau par Kenzo, you've smelled them all.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the package to finally arrive :)

I think Fumerie Turque may be on my wishlist. It sounds to great- we'll see: I read that it might be the next one to join the exports for a short time.

Tom, add me to the Fumerie Turque lemming list. (Also want to smell Chypre Rouge, Vetiver Orientale, the Bois line and Encens et Lavande - samples already coming of those last ones. Also, would be happy if bottles of Douce Amere or Santal Blanc dropped into my lap.) Other samplings desperately needed: L'Homme Sage, Bois D'Armenie, Le Labos, CB Burning Leaves and Gathering Apples. WL includes: Piment Brulant, Eau Noire (yay colombina!) Divine, and Lonestar Memories.

On my list (usniffed unless otherwise noted, so subject to change): Hermes Elixir de Merv., Paprika Brasil, Cuir Ottoman (is this one ever coming out?), L'Artisan Narcissus, CB Musk (sniffed only briefly), MH L'Air de Rien, Andy Tauer Orris (sniffed), bottle of SMN Nostalgia (sniffed; my decant is almost gone), and I want to give some SIPs (esp. Black Rosette) more of a try. Also, since this is a WISH list, La Violette de Madame. I know I'm forgetting some things. . . .

Dusan,
LOL at slutoon. :-)

Tom,
I've heard it is difinitely the next one to join the export line for a brief period of time. There will be a stampede, when it arrives to the US, so many people like it.

E,
I'm so glad you liked Eau Noire. I wonder if, when you try Chypre Rouge, you too will smell some similarity there for a moment.

Judith,
We have an almost identical To Sniff list. I don't know when Cuir Ottoman is going to be released, but whenever it is it will be a couple of long months before it hits the States (just like it was with Ambre Russe).

I tried Nostalgia. I see why you like it but for some reason it's not as great on me as I imagine it must be on you. DH's (disappointed) verdict: pleasant but does not smell like a car :-)

Dear one-

I hope your sniffy child feels better soon, and that you get some rest, enfin...

Wishlist?
I await my samples from Andy, Ineke, and CB, along with back-ordered Ambre Russe.

I'm curious about Paprika Brasil [hope I hate it- I can't afford to love it!],and would love to sample Fumerie Turque, Bois Armenie, and the Frapins...

Love you-

Chaya,
Thank you! Is Aedes backordered on Ambre Russe? It's so good , so no wonder :-) I hope they send your soon. I can't wait to try Paprika Basil, after all there are always those 15ml bottles to buy :-)
Love,
Marina

Oh, Musc Maori! I dream of thee...
What a divine chocolate scent with that extra oomph in it, sexy and snuggly as all get out. Like eating sinfully rich Valrhona chocolate lava cake in front of a warm fire with that someone special. I have decided that what I reallly like to smell like is dessert. Sometimes in a creamy dreamy kind of way( Des Filles Vanille), or maybe in a cognac and a fine smoke kinda way(Hermes AN)or simply a rum pudding with raisins and tawny port(Ginestet's Botrys . I love dessert and I love anything gourmand. It doesn't make me feel hungry, just sexy and edible. And on a perfect evening I would like to be the ultimate sweet finale!

Judith,
Aww, well done, we are yet to evolve to the level of smelling spices, any spices :-)

As for Nostalgia, I liked it a lot, but I wanted more from it, I wanted it to roar like that old racing car :-)

"Pleasant but does not smell like a car": Damning with faint praise, indeed! Sorry this did not work so well for you; I swear I get that old car smell!
I am collecting the comments of my DH (which are not as funny as yours, but still. . .). He has added a description to his repetoire, "Cinnamon": to be applied to anything that is even vaguely spicy. Also, he has given me proof positive that I have skank-eating skin; not only did he pronounce MKK "sweet" (a good term in his lexicon), but when I asked him what Rose Poivree smelled like, he said: "I don't know, but it's something very pretty!" (When I afterwards mentioned unwashed testicles, old socks, etc., he just laughed, shook his head, and said, "A little musky perhaps.")

Nostalgia was a disappointment for me- I read about it thinking that it would be a great approximation of the opening of Tubereuse Criminelle. It was, and it was wonderful, oily leather and gas. I was thisclose to whipping out my credit card, but I'm glad I didn't, since it totally disappeared after about an hour. So sad.
