Happy 2007! A Poll and a Prize Draw

(The poll and the draw are now closed, thank you, everybody, for playing!)

I am entering 2007 with a cold, so forgive the absence of a review today. Instead, how about a poll?

And for the prize draw. If you would like to receive samples of the three of my favorite new releases from 2006, simply let me know in your comment. The samples will include Bond No 9 West Side, Guerlain Bois d'Armenie, and Parfum d'Empire Cuir Ottoman. The poll and the draw will stay open till Thursday evening. I will announce the results and the winner on Friday, January 5.

Happy New Year, everybody!

I am eagerly awaiting the new Serge.

Take care of the cold- I like ColdEze and try Trafitional Medicinals Throat Cat tea.

And of course, I'll throw my hat in the ring for the draw.

And if this gets posted twice, my apologies... blogger is being obstinate.

I'll join you on the cold front and throw in an ent infection for good measure... I'm reminded of that Monty Python sketch of one-upmanship:
"Well, we lived in a cardboard box in the middle of the road that would be run over every five minutes. I shared my box with 27 other people who all had gastroenteritis..." or something similar.

Get well soon, and throw me into your drawers.

Happy New Year, M.!
I'm looking forward to both the new Guerlains -- though I haven't been overwhelmed by them so far, even if Bois d'Arménie has started haunting me lately, months after sniffing it -- and the Serge Lutens. Again, with reservations. I bought a full bottle of Chypre Rouge on the spur of the moment, but sometimes it's too downright weird to wear. A cinnamon-based scent like Rousse sounds great, though, doesn't it?
As for the Chanels, I'm in doubt about their volume, concentration, and the sheer number of releases. And fairly sure their release will spell the death of the rue Cambon collection in its present form/concentrations. Not a very optimistic outlook, is it? Nevertheless, I'm sure that 2007 will bring some wonderful surprises. Count me in on the draw, and get well!

Happy New Year, Columbina! Keep warm and get over that cold.

I think I'm most hopeful about the Guerlains - as it's the l'Arts that have intrigued me most of any line this year. I'm excited about the Chanels, but also prepared for disappointment as I so often am with Chanel. But surely, with so many scents on offer, one of them will be a winner? And I never got to smell MW's Incense, so that will be a buzz!

Please enter me in your draw, and have a wonderful day!

Leopoldo -- stay OUT of Colombina's drawers!

Marina -- why do the names of those Guerlains frighten me so much? Why am I picturing something "geared toward a younger audience?" Maybe they'll ask Xtina Aguilera to be their new spokesmodel?

I'm so sorry you're feeling under the weather. Get well soon!!

I'm looking forward to the reissue of MW Incense. I have never tried this scent, but I have a feeling it will be a FBW scent for me since people have compared it to my beloved Mick's Wicks Temple tart.

Please enter me into the draw, M, and have a wonderfully fragrant (and healthy) new year!!

Well, assuming the Guerlain rumor is true (those names sound so fake:), I am most looking forward to those--especially the oud!!--next, to the Chanels, and 3rd to MW I EdP redux. Which leaves poor Serge out in the cold--well, the last couple haven't been great for me, but I'm still excited about these!

Tom,
You mean Rousse? I personally don't have practically any interest in the "almond" one. And why would he make another almond scent if there is already Rahat Loukoum? Hmm.

Blogger elle said...

Tough choices! I always get panic stricken when limited to only 3. W/out doubt I am tapping my fingers for those Guerlains and Chanels. And I'm staring at the calendar impatiently, willing fall to get here for the MWI rerelease. But I'm also extremely hopeful about the Armani Jasmine and the new Serges. And I am anxiously awaiting the announcement from TM that the scents from the coffret will be released individually. OK...dream time there, but why not start the new year dreaming?
Sending cold vanishing vibes your way! I personally think the best remedy (distraction?) is some good online shopping...scents, clothes, books?

D,
I am very worried about Rue Cambon collection too. Well, mainly I am worried that it will ONLY be available in 200ml. That would insane.

Nina,
I love most CHanels (with the exception of Chance and Allure Sensuelle), so I am very excited about the new releases. But I liked Guerlain's L'Art collection too...lots of stuff to look forward to.

March,
It's OK, because Leopoldo of course meant my sample drawers. :-)
I sure hope Aguillera won't be a spokesmodel for those, although I can picture her on the ad for Cruel Gardenia. The L'Art et la Matiere scents are so exclusive , March, they don't need a spokesmodel :-)

M,
Thank you and Very Happy New Year to you too!

I must say that unfortunately I didn't find Temple similar to my beloved MWI. :-(

Judith,
I agree, the names...well, at least two of them, are quite silly. But so is Cuir Beluga. The sound of Cruel Gardenia plain scares me. Gardenia IS a cruel note for me anyway.

Happy New Year!

I'm looking forward to:

Serge - I'm an almond lover

Guerlain - I like most Guerlains

Matthew Williamson - Early in my fragrance exploration, I obtained a decant of this. I didn't care for incense and swapped it away. Now that my tastes have evolved, I'm curious to sample this raved-about incense once again.

Please enter me in the drawing.

Wishing you a fragrant New Year and a swift end to your cold.

I cast my vote for the Guerlains, simply because I find the names intriguing. (I bet on horses and buy wine the same way, btw.) Given those names, I eagerly await seeing what Guerlain does with the ad campaign.

My vote was a close call. New Serges are always exciting, even if not always in a positive way. I shudder with fright at the notes in the almond scent. And Chris Sheldrake is behind the Chanels, right? That is definitely worth anticipating!

1:40 PM EST

N,
I think that - luckily!- there won't be any ads for these Guerlains, since they from an exclusive line. I am afraid of that almond Lutens too.

My blocked sinuses empathize with your cold-afflicted head.

I would love to be entered in the drawing for samples of fragrances your reviews have made me long for, especially Bois d'Armenie.

As to the new scents, Guerlain is bound to be interesting. What will they do with an oudh? I'm a little tired, though, of names that demonize white flowers.

I am not excited about almond either. Of course, nothing is certain yet about that scent, for all we know it might turn out to have just a tiny almond note among lots of others. Or at least that's what I hope for :-)

Happy New Year, Colombina!

I got to smell Incense a few weeks ago (it's not available in Europe), and I'd simply LOOOOVE to have the possibility of owning a bottle someday! The new SL scents are next on my excitement scale - I may not always like them, but they're always interesting! The Guerlains - after the major disappointment of Cuir Beluga and Rose Barbare my excitement about those is very subdued, and unfortunately no Chanel apart from the classics has ever really worked for me, so.... ho hum.

Nevertheless, o priestess of scent, I'd love to be in the drawing. Always ready to be proved wrong about a Guerlain scent!
