Long Live The Queen!

Exquisite. My absolute favorite of the Oscars night. I imagine her wearing Chamade.

That's sweet !
My 16 year old has some major crush on her...
He loves him some Scorp females, that's for sure.

I ADORED the movie-
But the musical score was so demented, it made me meshuggah.

What sadistic moron perpetrated THAT ?

End of rant.
Love you-

She definitely looked fab. Didn't see her speech, but recorded it last night and will watch later today.

I am glad she won, and she looks wonderful, but I'm afraid I fell asleep before the end. DH had been traveling (in a car), got home late, and inadvertently woke me up. I sleepily asked, "Who won?" and he replied (sounding quite pleased), "the Celtics!"

Lady Jane,
Me too! When I get my hands on the movie, I am going to watch and re-watch it :-)

Sadie,
If I manage to look 1/4th as good in 30 years, I will very happy. Extatic, really. And everything looks absolutely natural.

I am so envious! Ah!

Chaya,
I understand him (?). I have a crush on her too. I haven't seen the movie yet. Was the music really that bad? I think it was nominated, the score, I mean.

Oh, I am sorry, you did say "he" :-) More coffee for me.

L,
When you watch look out for Jennifer Hudson accepting her Oscar. It was the funniest thing ever: she was SO overwhelmed, she clutched the statue and almost ran forward, with Clooney lagging behind her, trying to give her an envelope. She was like: Clooney who? I have an Oscar!

March,
Well, we pretty much decided then that she wear Guerlain. There is fashion police on the red carpet, why not perfume police. We two would volunteer to be the hosts of that :-P

Judith,
That is so funny! Celtics! :-D

Judith- I love your DH...
It's been ages since we won ANYTHING.
I cried a little, when I heard about The Chief...

Mska-
The ninny who scored 'Queen' did another this year.

Forgive my jerkiness regarding music- it's as vital to my well-being as scent.
Everything in the world correlates to music for me, or a smell, or both.
Can't help myself.

Example of scoring disaster:
Mystic River.
Clint is a genius, but it was really wankerism.
Insulting; Sean Penn is NOT good enough to make us emote ?
We need throbbing violins?
We're stupid, right?
The director can't do his job, the actors are utterly useless, we need a string version of the Acme Anvil [aka, Roadrunner cartoons] to get the point...?

Great example:
The Departed.
Really enhances the whole shebang !

BTW- PLEASE see it!
I'll feel even closer to you- you'll be viewing my stomping grounds, my neighborhoods.

End of nonsense.
Love me in spite of it, do !

Chaya,
I understand what you mean. Music should enhance the experience, for sure, but it should not be literal and overwhelming. I will definitely watch The Departed!

She looked like a million bucks, and was the classiest act there. A role model for a lot of silly, silly women currently bobbing along in the Hollywood stream.

A,
I absolutely agree! She has a look of being well put together without seemingly trying. This nonchalant "something" that I think is a very European, or maybe even a specifically British thing.

Chamade is perfect for her! I picked Diorissimo myself. I think she needs an exquisite, glowing scent. :)

Ina,
Hyacinth or LOTV, both should work wonderfully for her.

She was gorgeous. She and Cate Blanchett were my favorites of the evening. I'd say Yvresse would have been perfect for her.

Angela,
i like Blanchett too, I always do. Yvresse is a great choice!

I loved her- she was clearly having a ball, and was gamely playing along with the Will Ferrell/Jack Black skit- which was cute. The other moment I liked was Meryl's "Devil Wears Prada" staredown at her costars joking they forgot her cappuccino. Hilarious.

Ooh, there is a lot to discuss here. I can't remember the music to the "Queen" (so it was probably nothing special...).
And Kate Blanchett seems to be so "normal" - and i love her since "Elisabeth" (I'd love to see her in "Notes on a scandal" with my beloved Judy Dench).
And I defintely have to see the departed, though Leonardo is not my cup of tea, but the rest is very o.k.
And yes, music, what would I only do without it ?! (I play piano myself)

Lady Jane,
I love Dench too. I would have been rooting for her, if I wasn't already rooting for Mirren :-)
