Everything that Chanel can do Hermes can do...bigger

...And everything that Malle can do Hermes can do too. What am I on about? Well, this is what I stumbled upon in Le Figaro (translation is mine, i.e. bad):
"24, Faubourg, Calèche, l’Eau des Merveilles, Bel Ami, Équipage, Hiris, Amazone (...) All find a new expression today and are joined together in a very beautiful collection, la grande bibliothèque «À la folie». With the manner of a literary editor [paging Malle], Hermès publishes all its fragrances in identical, generously-sized bottles (400 ml) of frosted glass, with a silver plated and engraved cap. Apart from the color of the juices, the only elements distinguishing the scents are the names on the label, just above the Hermès ex libris. (...)

€195.00-€295.00 for 400 ml."
The collection is apparently sold at Hermes boutiques...somewhere. I could not find it at hermes.com, French, American, or any other. If you have seen the "bibliothèque", please report!

Yes! Super Size Me enters the world of perfumery. I am disappointed with Hermes. Just no need for that. (Still want about 30 mls of Kelly Caleche when it comes out though ;))

They're doing both ends of the spectrum, evidently -- when I was in Neiman Marcus recently, I saw an Hermes coffret that was identical to the Hermessences coffret that had Merveilles, Caleche, 24 Faubourg, and Jardin Sur le Nil.

The perfume market has expanded greatly in the last few years, and I guess the companies are going to squeeze it for all they're worth. If people are more willing to buy perfume in general, they'll be more willing to buy Frankenstein-sized bottles of perfume.

A,
Now that is the coffret that would appeal to me. 15ml is such a great size. Every line should offer their bottles in that size. I'd then own practically everything out there :-)

R,
Yeah!! I can't imagine ever being able to use up 400ml of, say, 24 Faubourg. Maybe 400ml of Sur Le Nil. On a very hot summer and if it was the only bottle I owned. :-)
