New Fragrance Line: Auguste Esprit de Cuir, Esprit de Chypre and Esprit de Chine
There is a new perfume line, Auguste, or Parfums d'Auguste, coming to Luckyscent. I managed to sniff their three perfumes, Esprit de Cuir, Esprit de Chypre, and Esprit de Chine, and what I find fascinating about them is the vintage feel of the scents. Not stylized-vintage, but vintage-vintage, like they were just excavated by Jaime Lliteras in his legendary warehouse. I loved all three, but Esprit de Chine moved me the most. Lovers of leathers and chypres, hide your credit cards. The fragrance will come in esprit de parfum concentration only and will cost $245 for 45ml. Considering size, concentration, and above all quality, I think that they are worth it. Esprit de Cuir notes: lemon, geranium, galbanum, jasmine, clove, birch, opoponax, tonka beans, tree moss. Esprit de Chypre notes: bergamot, ylang-ylang, lemon, patchouli, nutmeg, vetiver, oakmoss, heliotrope, labdanum. Esprit de Chine notes: bergamot, ambrette, orange blossom, lilac, carnation, lily of the valley, white musk, tree moss, sandalwood. |

Fascinating. Could one dare to hope for a trend in this direction? Thinking of Onda, any others come to mind?
And I think Jaime Lliteras' stash is safe for y'all if my total inability to locate his ebay store is any indication of the average tech-unsavvy consumer's ability to find him...
Alyssa,
I think he has a store now. Try google.
Onde is a good example of "vintage". Also, I'd say Bois de Copaiba. Jubilation 25 even.
Lordy, those all sound gorgeous! I'm gonna have to hide my credit card though, because speaking of Onda, I just bought the 15ml bottle of extrait last Thursday. That's it for me for a while!
My, those bottles are simply gorgeous. Want, want, want! Do you know when they're coming to Luckyscent, M?
Gail,
but if you love Onda you will love Esprit de Cuir...just sayin'.
Nina,
Any hour know, from what I understand, or within days anyway.
Argggggh! WANT!
Judith,
Yes. You, of all people...yes. And Elle.
Definitely out of my price range, but oh my, what gorgeous bottles. Why don't more perfumers use opaque materials like this? Very protective of the juice, and much prettier than the Montale aluminum cans.
Anita,
I agree!
I am also trying to hunt Jaime Lliteras and can't! Not at Google or eBay. Any suggestions?
Ack, those bottles! I want all 3.
Want! No...NEED. Budget screams in agony.
Marina, this is a silly question, but what is "esprit de parfum"? Is it the same concentration as extrait de parfum?
Those bottles are so beautiful. I can't wait to try these.
Oh my, be still my heart! I can only echo everbody else's comments. So, it looks like there is hope for the perfume industry and I love that. The bottles, the notes, the words vintage-vintage; if the juice is only half as gorgeous, all is well. Somehow it makes me think of my Grandma's (victorian) vanity. It would've fit right in. Come to think of it, I can equally picture it on mine, hehe.

Koki,
I actually have no idea! Sorry. I thought he had a store somewhere.
R,
me too, but especially the bottle for Chine.
L,
Mine had a heart-attack.
Jiyin,
Good question. I think it is.
Sabina,
So can I. Actually, I don't have a vanity table, but I'd get it just to display these bottles :-)
i love the bottles, particularly.
Jaime Lliteras here...
Hi everyone, my email is jaimelliteras@hotmail.com, my website is www.eurofinegifts.com, let me know what you need, thanks...
I bought samples of these following your tip-off. Wow! The Esprit de Cuir really packs a punch - it's proper saddle leather with a bit of horse's sweat for good measure. There's something herby-medicinal that I can't name because I'm a novice. I'd like to smell it on a man. Thanks very much as ever for your review.
