Top 10 of Spring and a Prize Draw
Spring is finally in full swing, and so it is time to give a nod to the season by listing our favorite scents of the moment. Everybody at PST named one perfume they've been enjoying the most in the last months; below, is our collective Top 10 of Spring; please share with us your favorites! Alyssa Serge Lutens Santal Blanc. For the early days of spring, when neither the weather nor I can make up our minds, Santal Blanc is just the thing: warm and woody, but also light, clear and surprisingly floral. And if on certain days I smell like a very fine, fresh and expensive pencil, well, all the better for writing foolish springtime notes that I erase and begin again a dozen times before sending. Beth Christian Dior Diorissimo. It’s such a classic spring fragrance .....hopeful , green, pure and truly the most wondrous of the Lily of the Valley perfumes. My very romantic husband buys it for me and once my son told me that if he ever met a girl who wore it that she would be “the one”. It’s beauty, romance and passion in a bottle and forever springtime in New York, a fine glass of champagne and a stroll through the Cloisters! Donna Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Cielle - it's like the soft breath of fluffy clouds in a bottle, a beautifully balanced jasmine and mimosa blend that brings out the ethereal qualities of each flower. Kelley Annick Goutal Eau d'Hardrien. No doubt about it. It's just fresh Sicilian lemons, grapefruit, cypress, and ylang ylang in the most perfect combination. This smells fantastic on a woman. I haven't smelled it yet on a man but I bet it would be great. Linda Hermes Un Jardin Apres la Mousson. I avoided it for a while on its reputation of aquatic melon, but I find that I love it for exactly that quality. The melon is more a refreshing watermelon than a clinging cantaloupe, and is dryly spiced by coriander, cardamom, and pepper that ground it in earthy dignity. The overall effect is ethereally springlike, and I feel right at home with the dragonflies, butterflies and hummingbirds when I wear it. Marian Abdul Samed Al Qurashi Thaqeel. That the heart of Thaqeel's refined, yet opulent, honeyed inflorescence is distilled from the bowels of a fungus-ravaged tree puts me in awe not only of nature's mysteries, but of (wo)man's ability to find and recognize that beauty can be found in destruction and decay. Marina Hermes Vanille Galante. What shouldn't have even been a spring fling turned out to be love. The unripe, slightly salty melon, the transparent lily, the almost non-existent vanilla, the pureness and joyful tranquility of a watery accord- my unexpected spring favorite. Marla Hermes Un Jardin Sur le Nil. The intensely sour, verdant top notes and soft green drydown are very refreshing and energizing. It's my summer staple, but this year, spring gave us a miss and summer's here already! Paul L'Artisan Fou d'Absinthe is a perennial favorite. It reminds me of my years in Europe and feels so right for New York. It was great in winter and is perfect in spring. Tom Le Labo Oud 27. Beautifully balances sour, salty and sweet, and (thankfully) has hassle -free availability. And don't forget to check out other Top 10s of Spring at: Bois de Jasmin, Grain de Musc, Now Smell This and Perfume Posse. Image © Perfume-Smellin' Things Labels: Best of |

Me in the draw too. Thanks!!!
Hieu
I'd like to enter the draw too.
My favorite tight now is Chloe. It's a bit outside my norm but I have a huge crush on it right now. :)
I am loving Jo Malone's lotus blossom water lily this spring. Please enter me in the draw!
Lots of love for Hermes in your list! I'm with that: my spring pick is Hermes Un Jardin en Mediterranee.
I'd love to be entered in the draw - thanks! This spring, I've really been enjoying Eau de Charlotte. It's one of the few perfumes that doesn't seem too loud to wear around my new baby girl.
Marina, no need to include me in the draw as I have enough Vanille Galante to see me through spring and summer... In fact, it's in my top ten as well! Somehow I'm not surprised we're together on that one! ;-)
Hi Alyssa!
So we're scent twins with Santal Blanc :-)
It's my favorite SL actually. It gets very little love I feel, such a gem isn't it?
~Trish
Fun, fun, fun. I do love that Vanille Galante, and have a good amount, but would love to sample the other nine mystery fragrances. Please enter me in the draw.
Please enter me in the draw.
My favourite right now is Annick Goutal´s Songes, but Neil Morris' Rainflower or BNTBTBBs B Scent isn´t bad either...
Thanks so much for recommending all these great scents!! I think that Spring scents are my favorite--all fresh and green and happy!!
Pleas enter me in the draw.
thanks
Would love to be entered in the draw!..
Thaqeel sound very interesting..need to smell cielle and VG..
I've been enjoying my sample of champaca absolute(the last drop of which I finished a few days ago.)
I'm ordered diorissimo more than a week back from fragrancenet..It said 'out of stock' almost as soon as I'd ordered-I haven't gotten a shipping notice yet, so am worried..:(.Was looking forward to spring and summer with Diorissimo (Beth- Loved your review- it literally made me feel like being drenched in Diorissimo)
After a long and "heavy" winter here in Vienna I'm all light and citrus now that spring arrived. There is my Jo Malone collection, full of limes and grapefruits, but for me the best citrus ever is Annick G.'s Hadrian and I agree with Kelley : must be gorgeous on a man... Tom, where are you ?
(And if it's not a citrus right now, than it's Kohdo wood with amber...)
Please enter me in the draw!
My favourite spring fragrance for now is MDCI Le Rivage des Syrtes.
Thank you!
I would love to be a part of the draw. There were also some not so obvious spring picks above, appreciated!
I'd like to be included in the spring scents contest as well. Thank you!
(BTW, who won the pineapple scents? I never saw the results!)
Laura M
These lists are always fun to read, and I always end up with new ideas for trying. :) Especially since this spring nothing yet feels right to me...
Please enter me in the draw.
I'd love to enter in the draw
I'm loving lighter spring scents at the moment. Diorissimo is perfect for the sunny days, and I'm loving Apres L'ondee and Chamade on the rainier greyer days (of which there are unfortunately many in England....). I'd like to enter the draw too please!
I have been DYING to try the new Vanille Galante, but my lazy friend who works around the corner from the Hermes boutique in NY won't walk there and get me one!!! Please include me in the drawing dear M!!
-kayliana
Hi Trish! Yes, SB is one of the subtler Lutens, so it gets overlooked. But I find that many of my subtler, overlooked scents come into their own in the sprintime. I'm wearing the heck out of Les Nez's The Unicorn Spell right now.
Great picks everyone! I find it simply amazing that we have no overlap.
Hi there! I've fallen for LL Oud, too, although it doesn't seem all that "springlike" to me.
For springlike--out of nowhere, I suddenly got a craving for FM Carnal Flower. And I think I'm almost out!
Draw me!!
I'd love to be entered in the drawing.
Thanks!
Entering miself in the draw and wishing y'all a super scented spring! My SF of choice: Eau de Cartier.
Great choices, y'all.
Marina, I'm totally in love with Vanille Galante too. I thought about putting it on my list, but I just didn't want to share it. :)
Thanks for the list. It seems that Hermes is the clear leader in springtime scents. I've been wearing Kelly Caleche a lot lately. :)
Please enter me in the draw.
Cheers,
dea
I find that my usual spring scents - Mitsouko, Calycanthus, The Unicorn Spell - are all taking a back-seat to Manoumalia. I love the little dirty bits in the far drydown! Anyone else having that experience?
I would love to be entered into the drawing. Thanks for a lovely post!
Ah, the Unicorn Spell! Thank you for reminding me of a gorgeous, earthy green!
Best,
Marla
Hahah, "a very fine, fresh and expensive pencil"! Indeed. I'm with Beth, I wore Diorissimo whilst staying at my folks' in Wales over Easter weekend, and got compliments on the lovely fresh-spring-flowers effect.
More recently I've been wearing L'Heure Bleue. Delicate and tentative, like the English Spring. - Emma
Oh please enter me in the draw! I'm trying out green and earthy violets and iris's this spring. I am really loving Sohvoile Violets and Rainwater I just got yesterday.
Via Camerelle, by Carthusia.
It's light and cool enough for work, but slowly turns subtly musky toward the end of the day.
My girlfriend likes it when I'm leaving, loves it when I get back home.
I'd love to be in on the draw, thanks!
Roland
Please enter me in the drawing - would love a shot at a new spring fragrance. My all time favorite is Le Labo Ambrette 9. Would love to try Oud 27!
Holly @ myhuckleberryfriend2000@yahoo.com
Please enter me in the draw! Thanks!

Hi Marina,
I would love to be entered in the drawing. Vanille Galant is wonderful. Light and magical!
Thank you.
Hey all, Marina is out of town today, but please be assured the team is reading all your comments and you are all in the draw!
And I'm wearing lots of Unicorn Spell, too!
I would like to be entered into the drawing. Thanks!
What a lovely list.
I would love to be entered in the draw!
I love reading what people love to wear :-) L'Artisan Fou d'Absinthe sounds quite interesting! I'd love to be entered into the drawing, thank you :-)
I love reading these lists and comparing them to the scents I choose for the season. Although here in California, the seasons are much less pronounced then elsewhere. Wearing different scents helps with the illusion of different seasons.
Thank you for your generous sample offer, Marina. Please enter me in the draw.
Gorgeous list! Please enter me into the draw, too! This spring, I'm sticking to Balmain's Ivoire (seriously underrated), Dior's Escale a Portofino and Serge Lutens Bois de Violette for the rainy days, which we've so far had none of in April.
This is a delicious list! I rather like the idea of Fou d'Absinthe in the spring and will have to revisit it. I've been wearing Songes by Annick Goutal for the past few days, getting to know the scent. It certainly is lovely, very romantic and I am enjoying wearing it but it's not quite something I can imagine smelling on my skin regularly.
Yes, please do enter me in your prize draw, very exciting!
I'm new to this and never thought before I needed a different fragrance for spring. Now I'm looking for one! Please enter me in the draw.
I'm new here and am just experimenting with new fragrances, too, so I'd love to be in the drawing. Thanks!
Beige is my unexpected spring love; the hawthorn is entrancing. I have worn all the Hermes' Jardins recently. They definitely invoke green growing things. Please enter me in the spring draw. Thanks!
One of my favorites to wear in warm weather is Bourbon French Perfume Marguerite. I get lots of compliments and it lasts all day. I would love to be entered in the drawing.
Put me in the drawing
Barbara Orr
Great curiosity for the mystery samples-- please enter me in your drawing.
Gretchen
Great article. I have been struggling with the transition from more cold weather perfumes to spring, fresh perfumes. I don't know why...didn't have this problem last year!
My favorites right now are Lyric Woman, or VW Libertine, but Champaca is a great idea, going to put some on when i get home tonight.
Please include me in the drawing!
Please enter me in the draw!
Lovely choices. May I be entered in the draw? Thank you!
It's hard to pick a favorite, so I'll just pick a few: Dior Eau Sauvage, L'Occitane Vetyver, and, though it's not yet in my collection, Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca. Please enter me in the draw as well!
Nice list and quite diverse --thanks! I'm just getting into my spring scents and the top-runners so far are Scherrer and Unicorn Spell. Both are green scents with a touch of cool earth. I'm sure more will emerge as the weather warms.
Please enter em in the draw!
Ooh - I've been waiting for inspiration of what scents to wear this spring! Thanks for the list!
Please enter me in the draw!
Please enter me in the draw :-)
What I reach for most these days is Diorissimo and Jo Malone Orange Blossom...although CdG's Calamus is wonderrrrrrul too!
I've been anxiously awaiting the Spring Top Ten lists! I love reading these.
Please do enter me in the draw.
I would love to be entered in the draw. My favorites have been Kenzo Power and my new Versace Versense. Nothing like the green of spring.
Nicoc
Hi Marina et al. I'm really curious about Vanille Galante, so would love to be included in the draw. Thanks!
As to scents of spring for me - spring's been slow in coming up here, but I've been breaking out the spring scents, trying to urge the weather along. In the past week or so, I've worn Juicy Couture (love it), No. 5 Eau Premiere, Cococabana, Premier Figuier, Tommy Girl, and today spritzed on Fig Tea from a sample I have. I also tried Yves Rocher's Rose Absolue - nice scent! Still haven't broken out Le Temps d'Une Fete, but it's supposed to be in the warm this weekend...woo-hoo! Just may have to wear it.
Great list everybody!
Right now I'm wearing EL White Linen alot. I love it's aldehydic crispness.
Please enter me in the draw!
Thanks,
Molly
Mama
Manoumalia would have been on my list as well, but we could only do one and oud just edged it out.
Everyone has such wonderful selections for spring! I am thrilled that Alyssa mentioned Serge Lutens Santal Blanc. I have rediscovered it recently too.
Vika
Thanks for all your Spring favs, and the super format. You have me revisiting old friends, and finding new ones. Pleas enter me in to the drawing.

Please enter me in the draw!
Thanks for the great list--I'll have to try some of these. I've been gravitating to Eau d'Hadrien and Premier Figuier lately.
-Kate
Draw please!
My Top 5 this Spring (considering only perfumes I own):
- Yves Rocher Comme une évidence
- Azzaro Azzura
- Kenzo Amour (I know this is not very springy but I'm enjoying it a lot with this rainy spring we're having in Spain)
- Sugar by Fresh
- Demeter Wet Garden
Please, enter me in the draw! Thank you!
Isabel
Tom- Just went back and read your review of Oud 27 and have put it in my list of 'to smell'..though right now Arabian Oud's King Fahed is what I am dying to smell!! (re-read that review too and OMG!!)
Great list. I particularly love Santal Blanc, an interesting choice for spring. I am glad it's finally here today, btw!
What could be more compelling than mystery samples? ;) I'd love to be entered in the draw. Thank you!
-Chance
Please enter me in the draw, thanks. Re: the Goutal...has anyone used the shampoo? So pricey, yet so tempting...
Include me please...this Vanille Galant sounds awesome.
Perfume list time is my favorite time! Please add my name to draw.
Spring! I've enjoyed Violetta di Parma for a couple of days. Would love to be considered for the draw.

My fav spring colognes are:
Mugler's Cologne,

One of my perenial favs is Balmain Iviore. Its perfection! Please enter me in the draw. Thanks!!!
I would love to be entered, I need a new spring fragrance!
I do love Mousson, but I feel more at home in it in the summer--of course it's barely spring here now!
I'm pretty new to this perfume obsession and would love more samples to try out, so please enter me in the draw! Thank you!
What a lovely list! Please enter me in the drawing. :)
Enter me in the drawing, please!
♥April B.
My favorite for spring is a wonderful citrus I picked up at the Fragonard factory in Grasse called "Riviera Riviera" --that was three years ago and I haven't seen it anywhere since!! Mine is almost gone, what will I do?
Please enter me in your drawing!
thanks, Julie Ellen
Please enter me in the draw.
My spring time favorites areLyric Homme and Bandit. Please enter me in the draw.
Nattygold
yay! I'd love to be entered into the drawing. Thanks :)
-Anthony
I'll leave the prize draw to others. Vanille Galante and I don't see eye to eye, wrist to wrist or behind the ear to behind the ear! In fact, I loathe spring fragrancees altogether. It's really a mystery to me what people see in them.
Please include me in the drawing! This is a phenomenal list!
Please I'd like to be included in the draw. For me the scent of spring is Halloween by J.del Pozo.
How can I skip this temptation? I am in the draw, please.
It all depends on what we define as spring...round here, with temperatures reaching up to 28 degrees centigrade,I am using up my best summer fragrances.
I'd like to enter the draw too.
Wow...I love these lists and it's nice to meet so many Diorissimo soulmates! We sure know a good thing when we smell it! I will now go immediately and retry all of the Hermes scents that I've been avoiding. You've all made them sound so wonderful that I am sure that I have been missing something! Also, I must try "the Unicorn Spell"! Thanks to all of you for your participation and for your wonderful sharing! I hope that wherever the world finds you today that it's beautiful, warm and happy!
What a wonderful list! My latest spring scent companion is Jo Malone's Orange Blossom. Please include me in the drawing. :)
-Mindy
I don't feel I comment enough to be included in the draw, but I wanted to say that I think you have finally sold me on the Vanille Galante, despite my melon and aquatics phobia! You make it sound so perfect for this time of year!
Please enter me in the draw, thanks!
Spring is so slow to arrive this year. I want to wear Bel Respiro and La Pausa, but the weather doesn't seem quite right for them yet. So I'm consoling myself with lots of Ormonde Woman, which works beautifully during these still-crisp days. I would love to be in the draw, thanks!
Karen G.
please enter me in the draw. thanks!
these days i like marc jacobs - blush, definitely spring for me
So glad you are all enjoying our list! It was so hard for me to choose just one, I had a number of viable candidates-I love the green florals for spring in general, as well as any lighthearted and fun scents that I feel like wearing in spring - today it's Lilly Prune Fizzy Tea and I am loving it! :-)
Donna (Flora)
I agree completely with Marla on the Sur le Nil! Please enter me in the draw. Thank you.
Isn't it late for me to enter the draw, too?

Thanks for the list. Great ideas to try. Please put me in the drawing :-)
I've been wearing Safi -- it has top notes of fresh lychee, juicy pineapple and black current with heart notes of stargazer lily, fresh cut freesia and neroli and a base of muhuhu wood, fresh bamboo, crisp papyrus and vetiver. It's really lovely.
Please enter me! Thanks, Kiki
How interesting that so many Hermes fragrances were in this list! Please enter me in the draw - Thanks!

Please include me in the drawing. Thanks!
Dear Marina, Please enter me in the drawer !
Well, i associate early Spring with a beckoning for the classics : Miss Dior, Diorissimo ,Diorella and gulp big surprise Opium ! opiumn is my warm weather scent . The rising temps "open" it up .
For spring my favorites are Jo Malone Lotus Blossom & Water Lily and Fresh Citron de Vigne.
Please enter me in the draw!
Perhaps not the most spring-like perfume, but I've been craving SL Un bois vanille, probably due to the fact that spring here is rather cold. But later on I would love some OY Champaca!
If its not too late, please enter me in the draw too! :-)
Living in a northern region, I wear pretty much the same year round, chypres & orientals. Please enter me in the drawing, thanks!
What a coincidence-- I just tried Vanille Galante for the first time yesterday. Great frag, but my spring vote goes for another Hermes: Jardin sur le Nil. luvvely! Please enter me in the drawing too!

Hi! I am a long-time reader of perfume-smellin' things, though I have never commented before. To me - as I'm currently studying for a law exam - it is the perfect escape!
My favourites this spring are: L'ombre dans l'eau (Diptyque), Oud wood (Tom Ford) and Cristalle.
I'm not sure, I can be entered in the draw, because I live in Europe. If it is possible, I would love to be entered - your list is fabulous!
Greetings from Germany
Hana
I'd love to be entered! Citrus scents are dominating my Spring favorites - Escale a Portofino, Chanel Eau de Cologne - and I'm going to dig out Eau D'Hadrien as well!
