Big Ego...EgoFacto Prends Garde a Trois and Jamais Le Dimanche

By Tom

EgoFacto is a new line created my Pierre Aulas, who mentions in the release his love of both opera (he has sung at the Paris Opera) and his last job as a marketing manager. I was sent samples of two of the fragrances:

Prends Garde a Trois is green and jasmine with a lovely smokiness to it that they write is for women, but that a man could quite rightly rock. They list notes such as warm sand, nettle leaves in addition to the jasmine I smell. I cannot say that I could identify those, but my exposure to nettles is nil so I might be the wrong person to say.

Jamais Le Dimanche is listed as ozone accord, marijuana accord and incense. On me it went downhill fast: it was Secretions Magnafique Lite. If that stygian water floats your particular boat then you will be happy to note that these will, along with the 5 others I didn't test will be according to the press people be at LuckyScent in future.

They are available now for 59EU at their website .

My exposure to nettles is painful enough I wouldn't want to get one within 10 feet of my nose so I'll have to take their word for it. Smoky green jasmine sounds pretty nice, though!

I'm happy you reviewed them, Tom - I spent some time on their website last week and couldn't decide, whether I like that BigEgo or not... The jasmine one could be my cup of tea, but the ozone one sounded scary to me from the website-text already... You found the other scents not worth a review or just haven't sniffed them yet ?

I haven't sniffed them. They're going to be at Luckyscent so I might check them out, but am not going to go out of my way to do so..

Tom, I just got the sample-set from Luckyscent - and no, there is definitely no need to go out of your way for them...

I ordered the four samples from this line that TPC has. Nice scents, but none set me off to do joyful olfactory cartwheels. Doesn't sound like these two will either, although I'm always curious about new jasmine scents, so will give the first a try for sure. The other one sounds like it needs a warning label attached. I'd probably have sampled it liberally (because I'm an incorrigible sampler of *everything*) if I hadn't read your review, so thanks for saving my skin from a vigorous Mr. Clean scrub down!

Umm - Nettles? Really? I will pass on both of these. Love the "stygian water" reference, it sounds accurate!

If these had been sent to me I would have tried them. They weren't and I didn't, so I'll take your word

I always write that your mileage may vary; I'm writing what it did with my skin. It might sing on yours.

Ah, so we both had a "downhill fast" response, except mine was to Prends Garde a Trois! I don't know what happened there because it started out well enough and just became violently nasty.

Poopoo Pidoo, on the other hand, was pleasant...so I'm not ready to give up on my sample set (got the pack from Luckyscent) just yet!

Sad about Prends Garde for you; that was the one that was okay for me.

I kind of love the idea of the name Poopoo Pidoo" though..

Tom, there may have been a typo on the label of your sample: the name is "Prends garde à toi" (as in "you best beware"), from Carmen's habanera in the opera... The nettle is the green bitter note you're getting.
Of the series, I preferred two you didn't get, Me Myself and I, a tuberose-vetiver combo, and Poopoo pi doo, a pretty rice powder (the name sounds like a reference to the baser bodily function, but it's actually a Franglish transcription of Marilyn's "boop-boop-be-doop" in "I wanna be loved by you").

Carmen-

The label on mine was smudged; I thought it was "Trois" (some sort of Fwehnch in-joke, I thought). Thanks for the clarification.

I did get the name Poopoo Pidou; for some reason I always think of Marilyn as having said that rather than what she actually said. Which is why you can see that I would make the mental leap from "toi" to "trois". I'm just twisted that way..
