Aftelier Lumiere: Perfume Review
 As a rule, fragrances develop from light to heavy, from bright to dark. On my skin, Mandy Aftel's new fragrance, Lumiere, progresses in reverse.Like a dimmer gradually being switched from dark to dusky to bright, the perfume slowly moves from the opaque, nocturnal-green notes of green tea absolute and incense in the direction of ever increasing incandescence. The composition steps out of the deep, cool, enveloping pool of myrtle green, wades through the translucent, pale waters of lotus and finally explodes in a burst of joyous, floral pinkness of boronia...A synesthesiac's delight! This sounds just beautiful - but how can that name be used, since Rochas already has a perfume by the same name that is still in production? Have the rules changed?

Not sure, but I'd think the issue was probably cleared. Is Lumiere still in production?

It is beautiful.
The original Lumiere is discontinued, but the new version came out in 2000. I am assuming that even discontinued scents with trademarked names have to be gone for quite a while before the name can be reused.

This one has such a short life on my skin, short even for a natural parfume. Hardly long enough to discover all that lovely development...
lumiere is a promise,not just any old name, and if I understand correctly, then this MA perform the passage from dark to light. Is that possible at all?
This sounds intersting and really lovely, Marina. I either need to quit coming here, or only come once a month and buy all my samples after reading the reviews in one sitting, to save on shipping!
I love her work, but also find the fugitive quality is a bit frustrating. Sounds like a great idea for a composition, so unusual, dark to light...
