Tribute Attar by Amouage
 By MarianFrost-encrusted branches of blue spruce, laden with such mountains of snow- I wonder why they don't break. Moonlight crystallizes them and they sparkle with galaxied rapture. I emerge from the forest into a mossy clearing- the ground there soft and yielding. I spread my cloak atop the lichen and burrow my face into earth's musky, heaving bosom. In the distance the sound of an organ creeps into the night, it's deep bellows expansively glorifying. The dark, balsamic scent of incense curls between the ancient stones- beckoning; caressing. I follow its warm, spicy and resinous song. The sanctuary is bejeweled with jasmines and purple roses, their sweetness more delicate and brilliant than the silver-laced candlesticks guarding their ripe beauty. Like shadows seeking mates in heaven their limpid nectar drifts spirewards. Could the moon be lit by the wings of angels, to so brightly drench the year-worn pews in these vibrant rainbows of light? Emerald, ruby, golden patterns melt upon the years-rubbed wood. Jeweled puddles commune in glass-stained splendor. To whom, to what, should I pay tribute for such glorious harmony of the senses and the heart? I kneel down, and await an answer. It's not often that I'm happy to spend $350 for a bottle of perfume, but Tribute is worth every (scent) cent. I can see, feel , taste and smell this magical fantasy called Tribute Attar.
Thanks to your most gifted and brilliant prose - this perfume has almost appeared in front of me..then it vanishes..and OOps appears once again.
The eloquence and colorful choice of words gives rise to this ethereal scent. It takes on a life of its own.
I have deep inside my feminine being an unmet un fulfilled yearning for passion and seduction.
This spectacular review captures the essence of fulfullment.
I will follow this tantalizing scent blindfolded leading me to discover and delight in whatever sweet and forbidden world awaits.
I need to smell this in person as I have imagined and lived this in my heart.

I second Tama's comment -- it's so much money, but with every enchanting review I read about it, I feel the slow surrender of my wallet.
My god! A spicy, retinous song.....and then a kind of floral backround ... Amouage at the most magic. I am wearing Amouage Gold sometimes but Tribute Attar sounds enchanting.... Have to find out!

Wow - this sounds amazing. Well, most Amouages are, it seems - but I'm terrified that I'll try this and it will turn into an HG.
Perhaps I better stick with Gold, Epic Woman, and Jubilation 25 - I already have them and they weren't quite so dear. I already broke my rule about even trying super-spendy scents and fell in love with both the above Amouages and Kilians Back to Black. Thank goodness for decants, anniversary specials, and travel refills!

Tama and Chasarumba- Although it's frightfully expensive, a little goes a long way. Yesterday I put a drop on the inside of my collar and whenever I caught a whiff it made me SO happy! It really lingers on fabric. I think I'm going to try putting a drop on the inside of my pillowcase tonight ;-)
Madelyn- Thank you! I know how much you enjoy romantic perfumes. I really think, if you tried it, it might take a place next to your cherished Musc Ravageur and become one of your favorites.

Anonymous and Cynthia: Have you tried "Lyric'? Its one of my favorites in the Amouage line.
"Back to Black" is on my "To Try" list. I wonder how the tobacco note in Kilian's perfume compares with Tribute's drydown. I'm guessing "Back to Black" is much sweeter than Tribute. Gotta check this out!
Darn, darn, darn....I do not have 350 to spend on this; I have my eye on a chandelier. I have spent my perfume budget for the year. I want to go to Europe next year.

Sonya- It's become more and more clear to me how difficult it is to create a scent that appeals to many people over a long period of time. Isn't it amazing to think that we still revere many of the scents that were created decades ago? It will be really interesting to see which of the "modern" perfumes become "classics", and which of those popular today fall by the wayside.

In all fairness, one drop of Tribute lasts hours at a time, and it continues to morph and change over the hours.

Chayaruchama: Isn't Tribute's development fascinating? It's a perfume of many faces- each with a unique and exquisite character. It's so wonderful to find a perfume where each stage is so different, and so lovely!

I haven't tried Lyric yet - I kind of fell into the Amouages by accident. And by accident, I mean that I went in on a split of Epic unsniffed and was immediately smitten.
Jubilation 25 was another happy accident when I snagged one of the small anniversary bottle for $50 - by the time that the Gold split came up, I was game for anything Amouage. Lyric is definitely on the "to try" list though.
Since I haven't tried Tribute, I can't comment on the tobacco note as it compares to Back to Black, but the B2B tobacco is very much a cherry pipe tobacco to my nose (as opposed to the dirty ashtray note in Jasmine et Cigarette, which is the only other tobacco scent that I have, at least I think it is, I could have more and am not aware of it yet).

I have some Cambodian ouds that have a warm, rich and sweet tobacco note that are amongst my favorite pure ouds. There are so many Western perfumes now that are featuring oud as a note, but once you've smelled the "real thing" the Western approximations are very poor substitutes.
lol - some of my blind buys have been terrible. Fortunately, most of them were mass market things at Marshalls or TJ Maxx or relatively inexpensive decants. I do have a few that I probably need to try and sell off though. I've sworn off all unsniffed Creeds, that's for sure.

Im not sure how this scent would be for a guy, but it does have many of my favorite notes: Jasmin, Saffron, and my most recent favorite, Patchouli.

Did you know that a lot of men in the ME wear scents that have a strong rose note? I'd love to know more about how scents are perceived in other cultures.
